Brief Overview
The goal was to create a custom illustration that communicated the message when no wines matched the search filters, enhancing the app’s UX. The challenge was the lack of suitable ready-made illustrations, necessitating a personalized design that aligned with the brand’s identity. The target audience included wine enthusiasts and restaurant-goers, with a focus on Android and Apple apps related to wine pairing.
Objectives
The primary goals were to improve visual appeal, maintain brand consistency, and convey the message clearly, making the app look more professional and enhancing user satisfaction.
Process and Methodology
I brainstormed elements related to “no results,” wine, and disappointment, choosing a wine glass and magnifying glass as key visuals. I sketched these on paper, then digitized them using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, utilizing tools like the Pen Tool, Direct Selection Tool, and Gradient Tool.
Challenges and Solutions
This was my first client illustration project, and I faced time constraints and tool limitations. I overcame these by watching tutorials, experimenting with tools, and presenting both raster and vector options for client feedback.
Feedback and Outcomes
The clients appreciated both versions but ultimately chose stock images for better brand alignment. Despite this, the project was a valuable learning experience, boosting my confidence in digital art and illustrating the strengths of both vector and raster designs.
