Brief Overview

The project aimed to update NightOwl Studios’ Facebook cover image to better reflect its brand identity. It targeted current and potential clients, tech enthusiasts, and SMEs in AI and software development.

Objectives

To increase brand awareness, attract new followers, and enhance the visual identity on social media.

Process and Methodology

  1. Researched best practices for Facebook cover images.
  2. Created a Miro board for inspiration, sketches for layout ideas, and sourced graphics on Freepik.
  3. Digitised the chosen layout in Adobe Photoshop, including the logo and contact info, ensuring alignment within the safe area.
  4. Gathered client feedback, iterated, tested on Facebook, and uploaded the final design.

Tools and Software

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Miro
  • Freepik
  • Google
  • Facebook

Techniques

  • Content-Aware Fill
  • Align
  • Scale
  • Colour Fill
  • Distribute Equal Spacing

Challenges and Solutions

I had limited time and skill to create high-quality custom graphics, so I modified a Freepik illustration with attribution. I resolved pixelation issues by oversizing exports to allow Facebook’s automatic compression to improve image quality.

Outcome and Reflection

Positive client feedback; pixelation issue resolved with export adjustments. I learned the importance of testing pixel quality for Facebook cover images, especially when using raster programs like Photoshop.
