Brief Overview

This project aimed to promote the redesigned LEET app. The goal was to boost downloads and enhance social media marketing. Targeting sports enthusiasts aged 16-60, the campaign focused on community and connection. I created the ads with guidance from a senior designer.

Objectives

The project’s primary goals were to highlight the app’s unique features and increase brand awareness. Additional objectives included boosting app downloads, enhancing user engagement, fostering customer loyalty, and building a vibrant community of sports amateurs.

Process and Methodology

Using Pinterest and branding guidelines, I developed concepts in Adobe Photoshop. After iterations and feedback, the final designs were approved and organised for distribution.

Tools Used:

  • Freepik for shapes and graphics
  • Pinterest for inspiration
  • Adobe Photoshop for design and editing
  • Shutterstock and Pexels for stock photos

Techniques Applied:

  • Image adjustments for saturation
  • Gradient application for text background contrast
  • Content Aware Fill to remove unwanted elements of a photo
  • Layered green lines with outer glow for a neon effect
  • Color overlay for customising smoke effects

Challenges and Solutions

As an intern with limited experience, I struggled with the new brand identity and restricted access to stock photos. Additionally, replicating specific background effects was challenging due to my inexperience.

To find a solution, I relied heavily on feedback from the senior designer and credited her contributions. I also provided mockups with screenshots of potential Shutterstock images before requesting a purchase to work within the Shutterstock limit. Lastly, I researched tutorials and similar effects online to replicate and customise the desired artwork.

Outcome and Reflection

The project received mostly positive feedback, with the senior designer expressing satisfaction with the final artwork and the team approving the selected stock photos. This experience taught me the value of creativity, resourcefulness, and the importance of not letting inexperience hinder my ability to deliver quality work. I learned that while exact replication of references isn’t always necessary, maintaining consistent styling and a convincing design approach is crucial.
